The health benefits of gourmet mushrooms are astounding – they are rich in nutrients like iron, copper, vitamin D, manganese, zinc, vitamin B5, fiber, magnesium, potassium, protein.. (We could go on) – They have an abundance of antiviral and antioxidant qualities and many of them are rich in proteins and amino acids which help to enhance memory and mental development.

Lions Mane in particular has come into the spotlight over these recent years after studies into the species found it to have a nootropic effect on the brain, boosting memory and cognition. Similar research fields have also found that extracts of Reishi mushrooms stimulate nerve growth factor in the brain, which plays a major part in healthy cognitive function.
Further studies focused on Reishi mushrooms have determined that their triterpenoids content has the ability to prevent tumor growth by reducing the spread of cancerous cells and some studies have even found that the active ingredients can find and neutralize cancerous cells within the body.

Told you.. amazing!

We really recommend that you do some more research into the health benefits of mushrooms – a great place to start is the Mushrooms as Medicine talk by Paul Stamets – which you can watch here

Many of these mushrooms have been relied upon for thousands of years by Asian countries for their medicinal properties and now their wonderous benefits are being discovered by the rest of the world.. it’s about time.
