Black Morels are a favourite for many mushroom lovers. They have a beautiful honeycombed cap and can be very tricky to spot in the wild. The mushrooms tend to favour growing on disturbed ground, in woods when trees are shedding their leaves – as they like to feed from the decaying foliage – and are found commonly on recently burned areas of ground or wood.. A beauty rising from the ashes!
Not only are they beautiful and delicious, they are also rich in nutrients – containing iron, copper, vitamin D, manganese, zinc, vitamin B5, fiber, magnesium, potassium, protein – and possess many antiviral and antioxidant qualities.
